Man United's Jonny Evans cleared of spitting at SECOND Newcastle player on Wednesday night

Defender facing a 6 match ban after denying aiming a volley of phlegm at Papiss Cisse was also investigated by FA over incident with Emmanuel Riviere

Double trouble: Investigators probed two incidents of alleged spitting by Evans

Jonny Evans has been cleared of a SECOND spitting incident in Wednesday's controversial Newcastle vs Manchester United game.
FA chiefs have confirmed they did study footage of a flare-up between Man Uniteddefender Evans and Magpies forward Emmanuel Riviere.
They were alerted to claims of this second incident - which was also highlighted on TV - but after looking at video footage were satisfied there was no question of any wrongdoing on Evans’ part in that case.
Northern Ireland international Evans is still facing a six-match ban but has formally denied spitting at Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse during the game at St James’ Park on Wednesday night.
Cisse has himself already accepted a charge for spitting and will get a seven-game ban, having been sent off earlier in the season.

No defence: Papiss Cisse accepted his charge and faces a seven match ban
Evans though has decided to fight his charge.
The case was heard on Friday night and the three-man panel - made up of former referees - will announce their decision on Saturday.
The Football Association fast-tracked the case to ensure a decision is made before United’s FA Cup quarter-final against Arsenal on Monday night.
