A nine-way relegation dogfight is developing at the bottom but who will drop out of the Premier League ?

It’s a two-horse race at the top of the Premier League but the battle to beat the drop is far closer as the season reaches its climax.
Only five points separate Crystal Palace in twelfth and Tim Sherwood’s Aston Villa, who occupy seventeenth spot, just above the relegation zone.
QPR, Burnley and Leicester City are anchored in the bottom three but there’s plenty of points still up for grabs before it’s all said and done on May 24.
Who can handle the pressure and avoid falling into the Championship?
With 10, or in some cases 11, games of the season left, we assess the form and fixtures of the basement boys.
We've also worked out the average league position of each side's remaining opponents, which should give a rough indication of how tough their run-ins are.

Current position: TwentiethPoints: 18
Average league position of remaining opponents: 11.36
Toughest games remaining: Tottenham (A), Chelsea (H)
Reasons to believe
Nigel Pearson’s side boast a game in hand on most of their relegation rivals due to the postponement of their fixture with Chelsea as the west Londoners contested the Capital One Cup final with Tottenham. The average league position of their remaining opponents is 11.36, the second lowest of the clubs involved in this year’s dogfight.
Reasons to doubt
The Foxes are four points adrift of Burnley at the foot of the table and luck appears to be deserting them. Pearson was calling for three penalties in last night’s 2-0 defeat to title hopefuls Man City as David Silva and a James Milner effort gave the hosts victory at the Eithad Stadium. Who says the big boys only get the decisions, eh?
