Trip back home: Balotelli took the opportunity to visit his homeland
Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli returned home to visit his former AC Milan teammates after Liverpool's drab goalless draw with Blackburn on Sunday.
The Italy international was an interested spectator at Milan’s training session on Tuesday as he watched the squad being put through their paces by under-fire boss Filippo Inzaghi, reports the Liverpool Echo.
Balotelli left Milan last summer when he completed a £16million move to Anfield. He has since struggled to make an impact with the Reds - scoring just four goals in 24 appearances – and faces an uncertain future.
All Liverpool players were given two days off in the wake of Sunday’s frustrating FA Cup stalemate with Blackburn Rovers at Anfield.

The squad are due back at Melwood on Wednesday to begin preparations for next Monday’s Premier League clash at Swansea City.
Balotelli came under fire from former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson for his performance after coming off the bench against Blackburn.
Lawrenson said: “Forget about Mario Balotelli. He is an absolute waste of time. He shouldn’t be anywhere near this team.
“I can see why Brendan Rodgers threw him on as he might just create something, but 99 times out of 100 he will let you down.”
