The Norwegian wonderkid will break the current record, held by Celestine Babayaro, by three days should he play in the second leg against Schalke
Real Madrid wonderkid Martin Odegaard will become the youngest player in Champions League history - if he features against Schalke in the second leg of their last 16 tie next Tuesday.
Former Chelsea and Newcastle man Celestine Babayaro holds the current record, appearing for Anderlecht aged 16 years and 87 days. If Odegaard plays against Schalke, he will be three days younger.
Madrid's decision to include the Norwegian in their 25-man squad for the knockout stages of the competition raised a few eyebrows, but with Los Blancos already already two goals to the good after the first leg in Germany, Odegaard could be set for a cameo appearance if Carlo Ancelotti's side are in a comfortable position late in the game.
